Also, Michael Canabe, a 19-year-old high school graduate from Balilihan, Bohol, underwent training on vegetable production in Sept. 2007. After training, he got a loan-in-kind worth P5,700 in the form of Casino eggplant seeds, plastic mulch and seedling tray. He planted a little over 900 seedlings on October 25, 2007, and started harvesting in the first week of December. From that small planting he was able to make a net profit of P45,000 in a harvest period of three months.
Now he is self-financing his operation. He has planted sitao, squash, sweet pepper and eggplant. With his earnings, he is helping a sister to pursue a nursing course.
