1. Start collecting your customers’ contact details and information now.
You can use a guestbook, enter names into your mobile phone, collect business cards, or begin an Excel spreadsheet. Write down each customer’s name, mobile phone number, email, birthday, anniversary and other information useful to your business.

HINT: Having a monthly prize draw is an easy and effective way to collect customer contact information.
Customers enter by dropping their business cards or contact details on a slip of paper into a bowl on the counter.

2. Record notes about what brings different types of customers back into your business.
Who only comes in when there is a sale? Who likes to come in because you have new inventory? Who likes coupons?

3. Group your customer contacts by preference for similar offers.
As you record customer details, start to think about how you’d group customers that might like similar offers.
Since customers like receiving offers dedicated to them, group customers with similar interests together!
