Study Now Pay Later for BS Entrepreneurial Management (BSEM) – High school graduates can now get entrepreneurship education the easier way without having to worry where to get money to pay for tuition fees and other pertinent cost. MFI Foundation, Inc. is now offering Study Now, Pay Later scheme for high school graduates who will enroll this coming June 2010 to study BS Entrepreneurial Management (BSEM). And the institute is now accepting applications of the program. This Study Now, Pay Later scheme offered jointly by the MFI Farm Business Institute and University of Rizal System.

Unique Program Features
The BSEM program of MFI-FBI aspires to produce the nation’s agri-entrepreneurs. To help ensure student success, students are strongly encouraged to stay in the MFI-FBI Jala-Jala, Rizal campus dormitories during the semester.

Students will be given 70 percent hands-on training and 30 percent theory, and will be immersed in the day-to-day operations of the various business ventures of the Farm Business School.

Students will earn TESDA-accredited certificates on 1) crop production upon completion of their first year, 2) animal science on the second year, and 3) either aqua culture or agro-forestry on their third year. After the third year, the MFI-FBI will award the students a Diploma in Entrepreneurship major in Farm Business. Graduates of MFI-FBI can then finish their degree through an additional one year of study at URS Pililla Campus.

At the end of the program, students can boast of having 3 years of solid experience in handling farm business operations and in the other aspects of agri-entrepreneurship.

Core competencies

A. Crop Production
This course is designed to develop core competencies in support of horticultural crop work, nursery work, agronomic crop work and irrigation work.

B. Animal Science
This course is designed to develop core competencies in raising poultry, swine, and small and large ruminants.

C. Aqua-culture Production
This course is designed to enable the students to:
a)conduct pre-operation aqua-culture activities
b)prepare and maintain aquaculture facilities
c)operate fish nursery
d)perform fish or shrimp grow-out operations

D. Agro-Forestry Production
This course is designed to enable the students to:
a)   learn selected agricultural and forestry technologies that will increase upland farm productivity and create a sustainable land-use systems
b) identify basic farming systems that are appropriate in upland/forest topography
c) identify good management practices for trees, crops and livestock production that will increase profitability of the farm.

Applicants must be determined to succeed as entrepreneurs. The requirements for the applicants of BSEM Batch 2010-2014 Study Now, Pay Later scheme are as follows:
1. Of good moral character;
2. Annual family income of not more than Php 150,000;
3. Candidate should rank in the upper 20% of high school graduating class;
4. Pass the MFI Farm Business Institute designated entrance/admission tests;
5. Performance in high school (per transcript of records or Form 138);
6. Willingness to abide by the school policies and guidelines;
7. At least 18 years old; and
8. A Filipino citizen

Checklist:
1. A letter written by the applicant expressing interest to participate and abide by the Study Now Pay Later policies and guidelines for the BS Entrepreneurial Management major in Farm Business;
2. Three copies of an accomplished application form;
3. Recommendation letter from high school principal attesting to the candidate’s good moral character and indicating student performance or rating/ranking in the graduating class;
4. National Career Aptitude Exam (NCAE);
5. Income tax return and other proof of family income;
6. Four copies 1”x1” picture.

Preference will be given to highly qualified applicants who meet the following criteria:
*High school graduates from Family Farm Schools and Rural Development Schools;
*Eldest child in the family or at least the first in the family to have a chance to reach tertiary level education or study college; and
*Parents are farmers and family has a farm either owned, rented or leased
