CSSP Garden Show and Pre-Christmas Bazaar on November

The Cactus & Succulent Society of the Philippines (CSSP) will hold a garden show and pre-Christmas bazaar on November 20 to 30 at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. The show will be participated by the Philippine Orchid Society, the Philippine Horticultural Society, Fern and Nature Society, Kapisanan ng mga Pinoy sa Sining ng Bonsai and a group of stone lovers.

The garden show aims to educate and make each one aware of the importance of gardening that will redound to a better environment. And growing ornamental and other plants like vegetables and fruit trees is also a good source of livelihood.

The show will demonstrate that cacti and many other plants could be a source of livelihood for big as well as small backyard entrepreneurs. Gardening is actually providing a reasonable source of income for enterprising homemakers, housewives, retirees and also youthful entrepreneurs.

Daily lectures, two, every day, will be held during the show starting at 2 p.m.

Saturday, November 21
Peter Barangayan will talk on the basic care of succulent while Anna Ruth Conde will discuss caudiciforms and other unusual succulents.

November 22
Teresa Baldonado will talk on the care and propagation of Hoyas while Serapion Metilla will lecture on indoor landscaping.

November 23
Zac B. Sarian will talk on money-making opportunities in farming and gardening while Tere Saniano will talk on natural gardening and farming inputs.

November 24
Edwin L. Noza will talk on how to combat dengue out of weeds while Fernando Aurigue will talk on how to produce mutant plants using gamma irradiation.

November 25
Egay Littaua will demonstrate floral arrangements for various occasions while Kevin Belmonte will talk on growing cacti and succulents in the tropics.

November 26
Tita Abaquin will talk on zero waste management while Adela Ang will lecture on wheat grass for health.

November 27
Modesto Manglicmot will discuss basic bonsai while Joyce Kato will demonstrate simplicity and minimalism of Ikebana.

November 28
Edna Palad will talk about water hyacinth from nuisance to usance while C.V. Lazaro will talk on orhids as a source of livelihood.

November 29
Vic de Rona will demonstrate Penjng, a form of bonsai art while Antonia Y. Loyzaga will talk on climate change.

November 30
David Balilla will talk of urban agriculture.

As genuine plant enthusiasts, CSSP encourage our countrymen to take part in the conservation, care and propagation of our plants and trees, and the protection of the environment. In our little way, we can be a catalyst in protecting our land and the future generation from the ill-effects of climate change due to lack of awareness and understanding of our role in environment protection.
