5 Tips to Make Money from Mango Production – Francisco Sacdalan of Libungan, North Cotabato, who harvested mangoes two times a year, shares these tips on how to make money from mango production.
1. It takes good management to make money from mango production. To make mango farming profitable, you should schedule your harvesting at a time when prices are usually high.
2. Treat the mango trees with Cultar (Paclobutrazol).
3. Mango trees should be judiciously pruned. The top of the canopy should be open and the weak branches cut off. Exposure to the sun of the inner branches will result in higher fruit production.
4. The mango trees should be adequately fertilized so that even if they are made to bear two off-season crops in one year, they will be able to sustain their good health. After a double harvest in one year, rests the trees for another year so that they can recover their strength.
Schedule of spraying flower and fruits to protect them from pest and diseases. Bags the fruits when they are 55 days old or about pullet-egg size. That way, you can save money because you will not have to spray pesticide on the bagged fruits. The bagged fruits have a cleaner appearance; therefore, they usually fetch a better price.
